A Short Awareness Drama Script

Scene 1: Inside the House

Narrator:
Behind many closed doors, there are stories that never reach the world. Stories of pain, fear, and silence.

(Father enters angrily.)

Father:
Why is the food late again?

Mother:
I’m sorry… I was not feeling well.

Father:
Excuses! You never do anything right!

(He throws a plate. Riya becomes frightened.)

Riya:
Please stop! Mom is sick.

Father:
Stay out of this!

(Silence fills the room.)

Scene 2: At School

Friend:
Riya, you look upset. What happened?

Riya:
Nothing… everything is fine.

Friend:
No, it’s not. You don’t have to hide the truth.

Riya:
At home… my mother suffers every day. But she says we must stay silent.

Friend:
Silence never stops violence. Someone has to speak.

Scene 3: The Turning Point

(Mother sits alone crying.)

Riya:
Mom, why do you tolerate this?

Mother:
Because I’m afraid… of society, of shame, of being blamed.

Riya:
But you deserve respect, not fear.

Scene 4: Breaking the Silence

(Riya and her mother speak to a counselor/community worker.)

Counselor:
You are not alone. Violence is never acceptable.

Mother:
For years, I thought silence would protect my family.

Counselor:
Silence protects the violence, not the family.
